TOURS OF LONDON
CURRENTLY MOST ATTRACTIONS, EVEN THOSE THAT ARE FREE, NEED TO BE BOOKED.
We recommend the Original London Walks, which our guests have enthusiastically praised.
Hop-on-Hop-Off Open Top Bus Tours are a good way to navigate London’s sites (London Travel Advice & Recommendations | Viator)
River cruises including night time cruises with dinner can be booked through:
And for the truly intrepid there are bike tours from www.londonbicycle.com
For an enjoyable day out under your own steam visit Greenwich:
Take a tube from Bank and change on to the DLR to Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich. The Cutty Sark, an old Tea-Clipper dominates the riverside. Move up to the National Maritime Museum not only for the exhibits but for Wren’s work on the Old Royal Naval College. Adjacent is Inigo Jones’ delightful Queen’s House. Then continue up the hill to the Royal Observatory. See also the Fan Museum, a true little gem
Finally take a leisurely boat back past the Tower of London to Embankment pier (see River Cruises) and from Embankment Underground home to the hotel.
TRIPS OUTSIDE LONDON
The following locations can be a day trip by train: Bath, Brighton, Cambridge, Canterbury, Oxford, York (for the dedicated train traveller) and Windsor. For information and booking tickets in advance see: www.thetrainline.com.
Give our address if you wish us to hold the rail tickets you have paid for in advance.
A further inexpensive option is to use Green Line coaches – a network covering the Home Counties which offer access to Hatfield House, Leeds Castle and many other locations.
Finally if you want to tour the country for a couple of days before resuming your stay at the hotel, you may leave your luggage with us. We recommend Evan Evans Tours.
