As our reviews confirm, we are superbly located within a short walking distance of major London stations – rail and underground. Our nearest underground is Russell Square (Piccadilly Line), with Euston (Northern & Victoria Lines) and King’s Cross (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly & Victoria Lines) only a few more minutes away on foot. Euston and King’s Cross are also mainline Stations and St Pancras International (Eurostar) lies between the two. From these underground and main line stations all of London may be accessed rapidly – ideal for tourists and business.
FOR TOURISTS – near us are: The British Library, the British Museum, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Shaftesbury Avenue, Piccadilly & Soho, Chinatown, Trafalgar Square, Green Park & St James; see Local Attractions for lesser known but equally enjoyable venues.
FOR ACADEMICS – near us are: UCL, Birkbeck, the Warburg, SOAS, Institute of Education, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Francis Crick Institute, LSE, King’s College, Wellcome Institute and 10s of other research bodies.
FOR MEDICS – near us are: UCH. National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine, UCL School of Pharmacy, Royal College of Anaesthetists and the BMA.
From Heathrow
Take the Underground’s Piccadilly Line directly from Heathrow to Russell Square. This trip can be awkward with lots of cases but otherwise the simplest.
The Heathrow Express is a fast train (24 min) trip to Paddington but then you need to either change to the Underground to Kings Cross or take a short taxi ride. The taxi can be faster, though not always but certainly it is the most expensive.
Finally, if you are in a small group it can be quite cost-effective to hire a chauffeured car or just to enjoy the convenience of a door-to-door service. We have found Airport Executive Cars (www.airportexecutive.co.uk) to be reliable.
From Stansted
Take the Stansted Express to Liverpool Street and from there, either take the Underground to King’s Cross and walk (8 min) or a taxi. Alternatively you can take the Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale and change to the Underground (Victoria line) to Euston and walk (7 min).
From Luton or Gatwick
For those coming from Gatwick or Luton airport we now recommend using St Pancras International for its sheer convenience. The exit for trains from the airports is in Midland Road. There is, however, an alternative Gatwick route that guests may wish to use. Gatwick Alternative: Take the train, the Gatwick Express, to Victoria Station and then change to the underground to Euston or take a taxi from Victoria.
From St Pancras International
The new St Pancras International housed in the old, majestic St Pancras station is not only where the Eurostar terminates in London but also provides direct services from Gatwick and Luton airport. The station is very close to the Hotel and easily accessible on foot (5 min). The few minutes from the hurly burly of the station to our quiet garden crescent is a truly surprising environmental contrast.
Eurostar
The Eurostar train service terminates at St Pancras International which is only a few minutes walk away from the Hotel. The Eurostar’s main destinations are currently Paris, Brussels, Lille and Avignon. However it is possible to make connections to other destinations. The hi-speed trains use the tunnel under the English Channel. A London- Paris trip takes about 2 hours 15 minutes, while Brussels is less than 2 hours away. The proximity of the hotel to St Pancras International makes it quite possible to take a day trip to Paris or Brussels – stay in London and lunch in Paris!!
